Meet Your Newton Court Wellness Centre Team
Introducing Surrey Chiropractor Dr. Sony Sandhu
Hello and welcome to our website. My name is Dr. Sony Sandhu and I am one of the two founding Chiropractors here in our Surrey clinic. I was born and raised in Fort St. James, BC where I played several types of sports growing up.
I was first introduced to Chiropractic care when I injured my rotator cuff playing competitive baseball. Doctors told me that I should consider quitting due to the condition. My parents took me to a Chiropractor for treatment and over the course of a few weeks, I had completely recovered. I knew that I too wanted to help people in this way.
After attending Simon Fraser University, I moved to Portland, Oregon in 2000 to begin my Chiropractic Education at Western States Chiropractic College. I moved back to Canada in late 2003 when I started working at Newton Court Wellness Centre.
My wife and I stay quite busy volunteering in the community. I continue to stay very active in sports. I play ice hockey two to three times per week. I squeeze in tennis once a week and try to get into the gym two to three times per week. As a result, I have my spine manipulated weekly to minimize aches and pains.
I look forward to providing you with best healthcare I possibly can.
Introducing Surrey Chiropractor Dr. Jay Dhesi
Hi, my name is Dr. Jay Dhesi and I am one of the founding Chiropractors of Newton Court Wellness Centre in Surrey.
I have been involved with chiropractic care since I was a teenager when I hurt my neck while playing soccer. I was so fascinated by the natural healing powers of the body and the ability of chiropractic to harness this energy that I knew right then that chiropractic was going to be my life's passion.
I attended Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon where my focus was on sports medicine and rehabilitation. As a result, my practice approach involves physical therapy modalities along with soft-tissue rehabilitation techniques and chiropractic manipulation using the diversified technique.
I am married and blessed to have two beautiful and healthy children who keep me busy in my spare time.
Introducing Our Surrey Receptionist Virliza Ogilvie
Hello all, my name is Virliza Ogilvie and I am the receptionist here at the Newton Court Wellness Centre in Surrey. I have been here for just over a year after moving from Winnipeg last March.
In Winnipeg I was a supervisor of the “Before and After” School Program and this position has many similarities to my previous position. I have also worked in a financial office handling administrative duties and I am now working on my Pharmacy Technician designation.
My wonderful husband and I gave up exciting positions (he worked with the Fire Paramedic Service and I with the YMCA daycare) to take the plunge and move out here before we start our family, although our family is already five members strong with our three beautiful cats.
We have no regrets about moving out here as we both love BC because there is so much to see and do and of course the mild winters are a bonus. I am so used to the changing seasons that I forget what month it is here! What makes the transition so much easier is finding the right fit and the staff here at the clinic is just that.
Introducing Surrey Naturopathic Doctor ~ Dr. Navi Badesha
Hello my name is Dr. Navi Badesha and I am the Naturopathic Doctor here at Newton Court Wellness Centre in Surrey. I believe that commitment to one’s health is essential for achieving and maintaining optimal wellness. I am an avid athlete myself with interests in mixed martial arts and weight training.
My responsibility is to help patients realize their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual potential. By blending the art of natural therapeutics with modern medical science, I seek to "identify and treat" the causes of illness in the least invasive way. This dynamic approach to health care focuses on empowering the individual to move beyond dependence on medication, be it pharmaceutical or natural. I have seen incredible results using Prolotherapy in my practice over the last few years. It consistently provides results where other treatments have failed.
I have treated hundreds of patients using Prolotherapy with positive outcomes. I have treated many professional athletes and have talked with their training staff about Prolotherapy and other Naturopathic treatments and principles. I have seen how a comprehensive diet and nutrient plan can drastically improve function in patients.
